Qunubu cultivates and distributes cannabis products in Los Angeles, California.

Believing is in the power of CBD (Cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) that is able to cure the body, the mind and the soul of people, Qunubu is on a mission not only to make quality products affordable and accessible nationwide but also to spread awareness about the beneficial properties of this  incredible plant and products.

THE PROBLEM

In a $10 billion dollar industry that is fast growing it is essential to stand out from a growing crowd of products and services that mostly ride a trend and lack thoughtful positioning. Their team of chemists, biologists and horticulturalists was steeped in knowledge and process but lacked a distinctive name and a way to tell their story. They needed a brand that captured the quality and professionalism of their undertaking as well as the positive effects of the plant on people life's.

THE SOLUTION

We came up with an up to date identity system that stands the test of time with a simple word mark that has a strong personality, is recognizable and most of all versatile.

THE LOGO NAME

Between 300 and 500 B.C., the Assyrians used the word qunubu as for a source of oil, fiber, incense and medicine. This ancient Assyrian name qu-nu-bu, is the phonetic equivalent of the ancient Hebrew name for hemp, q'aneh-bosm and the strong connections between the two can be seen in the similar ways both, Mesopotamian and Hebrew, worshipers utilized the plant.

PATTERNS AND
PACKAGING

The goal in creating the pattern was to recreate the idea of a cannabis flower seen from above while retaining the characteristics of the logo. The result is a patterns that unifies the brand style.The use of the pattern with the logo gives the brand the ability to be adaptive to the fast pace market change in the cannabis environment.

THC AND CBD

While a good part of the dispensary is dedicated to the distribution of products containing different levels of THC, Qunubu also offers its own tinctures in bottles with pipette.

With bottles that contain a mixture of CBD and MCTs oils Qunubu aims to satisfy that segment of the market that isn’t necessarily interested in the recreational effects but rather in the beneficial influence that the cannabis oils offer to the body acting as an energetic fuel.

STATIONERY AND
COLLATERAL MATERIAL

It was important to create a brand system that was able to work well not only with the packaging but also with other printed objects as well as for the internet.

Particular attention was given to all those collateral objects able to represent the image of Qunubu. Shopping bags, snap-back hats, magazine covers and t-shirts were just some of the places where Qunubu was able to be displayed.

BRAND BOOK

A brand book should be shared throughout the company and with partners in order to maintain consistent delivery of the brand. By referencing the book, creatives can eliminate questions from other departments, such as which logo to use on a light or dark background. Providing the guidelines to departments outside of the creative wing gives non-creatives something to reference and influences consistency throughout the company.
